(Montreal, September 8, 2008) ExpoCycle 2008 kicked off with a phenomenally successful first day on Sunday.  Attendance was good, the mood was great, and the Retailer Power Program seminar series debuted to rave reviews.  Topics covered included:

Renown facilitator Tom Shay, of Profits Plus  Solutions, was impressed with the turn out to his sessions.  

“If there’s one thing I hope people take away from hearing me speak,” Shay remarked, “it’s that, no matter what’s happening in the larger economy, there’s no reason why you as an individual business can’t make a profit.”

Between workshops, there was plenty to see on the exhibit floor.  One particularly eye-catching booth belongs to first-time ExpoCycle exhibitor, Nutcase Helmets.  The display features dozens of helmets, each decorated with a unique design created by a different artist.  The result is protective headgear that seamlessly blends art with function.
The company was founded by Mike Morrow, a former Creative Director for Nike.  Nutcase products are on display in Booth S75.

Also attracting attention is the Louis Garneau Citizen Sub-Zero prototype, an urban commuter bike manufactured in Quebec.  From a distance, it appears to be another high quality commuter bike on display at ExpoCycle.  On closer inspection, you realize that it’s different.  The Citizen Sub-Zero features studded tires, floating front disc brakes, a rust-proof chain, platform pedals, and a 7-speed internal gearing system. You can see this remarkable bike for yourself at the Louis Garneau display (Booth 901).

“We’re really excited about the displays we’re seeing this year, and so are our delegates. “ says Janet O’Connell, Executive Director of the Bicycle Trade Association of Canada.  “There are some amazingly innovative and impressive products.”
