Hybrid electric Canadian Springs delivery trucks make their debut delivering water to thirsty players at Vancouver street hockey tournament.

What:

The first Canadian Springs hybrid electric water trucks make their official debut at the Play On! National Street Hockey Tournament held in Vancouver and across Canada.

When:

Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 12pm (noon) sharp for a 5 minute hybrid truck presentation before a celebrity street hockey game

Where:

Abbott Street and Expo Blvd at NE corner of GM Place; on the Kenworth main street hockey rink of the Play On! Tournament

Who:

Local and national celebrities will be present

Background:
While providing pure drinking water to 2,000 Vancouver street hockey players battling it out in the nation's largest organized street hockey tournament, Canadian Springs will be showcasing their new lower emission vehicles.

"We've always been very conscious of our environmental footprint", says Mengo McCall, Director of Business Development for Canadian Springs, "we use returnable refillable bulk sized bottles that each carry over 1,000 litres of drinking water in their lifetimes, then we recycle all of them.  None go to landfills.  Now we are delivering the water in vehicles with significantly lower emissions."

There will be an opportunity to view and discuss the new vehicles. The hybrid electric drive trains on the Canadian Springs Kenworth trucks will reduce emissions by an estimated 37%.  The hybrid technology only recently became available for class 7 trucks and Canadian Springs is one of the first few Canadian companies to begin leasing them.
